Why should you get your next
family member here?
HOME
All of our pups are raised in our home.  Right under our noses, so we
can keep a very close eye on them. They are naturally socialized by
the time they leave us. Ours is a busy household, with other dogs,
people coming and going and all the usual hustle and bustle. We
have many friends and often they stop to see us. This exposes the
pups (after they are old enough) to different people. They are picked
up, held, played with and loved on a lot.

VETERINARIAN CARE
Our pups are delivered via c section and checked by our vet at least
twice before they leave us.
No pup is allowed to leave here until they
have been seen by my vet and found to be healthy.
They receive age
appropriate shots and de-wormings too. Mommas and daddy's get
yearly exams.

HOUSE TRAINING
Ever been to a pet store and seen all those cute pups behind the glass?
Ever notice what is beneath them? A tray, to catch waste with a grate
on top of it. In other words, they eat, sleep, play and potty all in the
same small area. It is not only pet stores that do this. At Prairie Lane
our pups are contained for sure. It is not safe to allow babies free
range all over the house. Someone may get stepped on or decide that
a lamp cord is a great chew toy. However, they are contained in a
large area with a designated potty area at one end, away from where
they eat and sleep. We also place huge exercise pens in the yard when
the weather is nice. We take the babies out frequently and encourage
them to go potty.  I get lots of email's from buyers stating the pup
only had an accident or two and then understood to go outside or in a
litter box or on papers, whatever you prefer.

It is physically impossible for any young puppy to hold it for hours.
Do not expect it. If you find a breeder claiming their pups are house
trained or crate trained, ask them to define trained to you.  To me it
means I can go away for 8 hours with a dog either in a crate or in my
house and not come home or wake up to any messes. No pup can do
this. They are simply too young. The key to breaking your pup is
persistence, patience, commitment and getting your puppy from a
place where he is not forced to eliminate where he sleeps and eats.
Pups who must go where they sleep are difficult if not impossible to
house train and grow up to be "dirty".

EXPERIENCE
I have been raising dogs since I was in my 20's. I am in my 40's now.
Been around for a long time. Along the way I have had some excellent
guidance.  Dr. D. Nickleson, DVM. She was always willing to offer me
suggestions and solutions. Linda D. Vet Assistant, groomer, small
animal nutritionist and breeder.  A pragmatic woman with a wealth
of knowledge she shared with me. L. Duren, breeder, exhibitor of
some wonderful dogs and uncanny in her intuitiveness when it came
to canines. M. Kochs, compassionate, loving, detail orientated and
outspoken breeder who passed away several years ago. I miss her
still. S. Meril, bulldog breeder extraordinaire, a wizard with genetics
and knowledge of these difficult to breed breeds. L. Glynn, breeder,
exhibitor and never afraid to tell you what is right and wrong. His
code of ethics were rock solid. Dr. J Sears, DVM. My vet who is not
only a superior clinical canine vet but holistic as well. She always has
time for my questions and is never further away than a phone call. I
cannot list everyone here but those are my top people. In addition I
was a Vet Assistant for many years and a Professional Groomer with
a large clientele of difficult (for one reason or another) dogs.

HEALTH
Last, but never ever least, health. That means in body and mind. No
matter what a dog looks like, if he or she is pointed or has produced
champion offspring, we only breed the dogs that are healthy in body
and mind. Every breed has an AKC standard for looks and one for
temperament. We adhere to both. Just one of the benefits of a
purebred is that you can count on a certain frame of mind if you go
with a good breeder. French Bulldogs and even more so, English
Bulldogs must be bred by people who are committed to health. Both
breeds are wonderful and can live long and healthy lives. We own
several generations of dogs here and all are healthy. At Prairie Lane
you can find a beautiful pup with the  personality and demeanor that
is correct for its breed
.
